Medicaid’s interview with talk radio host Hoppy Kercheval today reveals the agency will be slow in paying providers as per the notice the agency sent providers April 25. Tax revenues from coal and natural gas continue to decline causing cash flow problems, according to Medicaid. Delays can be as long as 35 days.
In related news, the Legislature has yet to act on the 2017 budget which begins July 1, 2016. If it passes tax increases, the Medicaid problem can be partially resolved.
WVDA will keep members informed of the Medicaid issues as they develop.
