Annual Session Update
Speakers headlining the 109th Annual Session are Dr. Maxine Feinberg, President
of the American Dental Association, and Don Nehlen, former WVU football coach.
Dr. Feinberg will present programs to the Women in Dentistry group, WVDA New
Dentists (less than 10 years in practice) and WVU dental students. Coach Nehlen
is the keynote speaker at the “Year of the TEAM” celebration dinner. Program and
registration information was mailed members last week. Dentists are encouraged
to make room reservations at The Greenbrier by June 1. Room rates will increase
after that date and availability will be limited. Lodging in nearby Lewisburg is listed
in the program mailed dentists.

Enroll In or Opt Out of Medicare
CMS extended the deadline for dentists to either enroll in or opt out of Medicare
from June 1, 2015 to January 1, 2016 — thanks to the ADA encouraging the change
because of so many uncertainties of the new CMS policy. The forthcoming WVDA
News contains information to help dentists make an informed decision, including a
“Q&A” obtained from Palmetto GBA who is Medicare administrator for WV, North
Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

Students Presented Risk Management
Dr. Jill Baskin of CNA Health Pro presented WVU graduating dental students a
risk management program May 6 in Morgantown. After completing the program
students were provided professional liability insurance, giving them protection for
their forthcoming clinical exams. Lona Ross of USI Affinity, administrator of the
WVDA endorsed Professional Protector Plan, and WVDA Executive Director
Richard Stevens also spoke to the students.

Insurance Benefit for Dentists
WVDA engaged Dr. Jill Baskin to present a risk management program designed
for dentists and their staff, January 22, 2016. at the Marriott Hotel in Charleston.
Over 330 WVDA dentists are covered by the Professional Protector Plan and will
earn reduced premiums for three years after taking the program. Dentists who
attend the program and then purchase the PPP will also earn the premium credit.
Dr. Baskin practices in Chicago and presents the seminar nationwide for CNA
Health Pro, the insurance company insuring dentists for malpractice, general
liability and office equipment. WVDA has endorsed the PPP since 1972.
